Our client, a leading MENA investment house, sought to understand the current condition of small and medium enterprise in Iraq, the political and regulatory environment in which they operate, the greatest obstacles to growth and development of small and medium enterprises, and the outlook of SME business owners for the near and medium term.

Solution

Ergo mobilized two tiers of experts within our network to address the client's concerns. We engaged experienced observers of economic development in Iraq both before and after the 2003 invasion to provide macro-level insights and context. We also coordinated an unprecedented survey of hundreds of Iraqi business owners in 12 governorates and consulted chambers of commerce, prominent religious institutions, and other sources on the ground to obtain a clear picture of the SME environment and outlook.
